Well hello Legacy Peeps, it’s old brother Rick. I’m like a messed up Quarter, you can’t get rid of me! I was born & raised right here in Fort Collins, and grew up over by the Library Park. I was known for my expert marksmanship with a BB gun. Ok, I shot something’s I shouldn’t have. Hey, you know ….. Those people healed up just fine. I don’t know what the big flap was all about. Well anyway, I want to give you my heart on praying, whether you are aware or not, Legacy Church is associated with “The Assembly of God Churches”. One of the reasons is because we are all Pentecostal, and as such, charismatic. Legacy F.C. is not a church you would go to, to take a nap. As an old feller, I have attended about six churches in my life, or what I would call “be a member of”. I have always liked the charismatic approach of preaching the Gospel. Long story short, I was raised by my grandparents, my grandmother made sure I went to church every week. It was an Assembly of God Church. So I learned by watching the Elders, to cry out “Amen and “Glory” and “Hallelujah”. “I’m hearing that “ “Now you’re talking “, and I can tell you for sure , that Pastors Love this interaction with the peeps! It’s very meaningful, so “Praying “ become any different at a Pentecostal Church? Yes, I believe it does! There are two things that make it different for us. The laying on of hands, and “anointing with Holy Oil”.These two things can wig out or even scare some folks. There’s no reason for it to, if it’s done correctly and with love.
It’s an old, old way of praying for the Believer. I can tell you with full certainty, that is the most powerful prayer mankind can offer up to the Lord! This process is noted and discussed many times throughout our beloved Bible! Both old and New Testaments. Checkout Leviticus 8:10, Isaiah 6:13, Mark 6:13, Luke 7:37, and James 5:14. These are just a few. Please, I strongly urge everyone who reads this to ponder about hooking up with this way of praying.
We have Holy Oil at the alter of our Church. When you go up for prayer, just say “I want oil”. The Pastor or the Elder or the Leader will put a dab of oil on their index finger, make a cross on your forehead, and declare God’s Favor and Blessing on your life! And of course, they would have laid hands on your shoulder. Other people may be touching you as well. This is the most awesome prayer that we as God’s people can partake of” It is not weird or scary in any way. It’s a matter of believing in Godly ways, the Scriptures and doing it boldly!
You know I always have Holy Oil in my pocket. You can grab me, and I’ll get you started in this precious time, or I’ll go up front with you, and we’ll both get anointed. Try it……
You’ll like it.
Glory to God on High! With love and compassion, I’m pulling for you!
